What You Can Expect

A mental health therapy practice grounded in play and expressive therapies – While our work often centers on children, expressive therapies are effective, engaging, and meaningful for clients of all ages. Lindsay is also trained in Brainspotting, offering an additional approach for processing trauma, anxiety, and other difficult experiences.

Proudly LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent affirming – We honor each person's identity, lived experience, and unique way of being in the world. Our goal is to create a space where every client feels seen, respected, and safe.

Committed to a welcoming, nurturing environment – From thoughtfully designed therapy spaces to snacks, hot tea, and coffee, we believe comfort and connection begin the moment you walk through the door.

Listeners first – We consider it a privilege to be trusted with people's stories. Every therapeutic relationship is approached with humility, curiosity, compassion, and genuine respect.

Collaborative and family-centered – When working with children, we value both the child's experience and the essential role of parents and caregivers. Therapy is collaborative, relational, and grounded in supporting the whole family system.

What We Are Not

Judgmental – We believe people are doing the best they can with the resources, experiences, and circumstances available to them. Therapy is a place for understanding, not blame.

Passive – Our approach is intentional, responsive, and tailored to each client. Sometimes therapy is child-led, sometimes therapist-guided, and often somewhere in between. We provide support with warmth, clarity, and appropriate boundaries.

A formal diagnostic practice – We can provide diagnostic impressions and utilize informal screening tools when clinically appropriate. When formal psychological, educational, or medical evaluations are needed, we are happy to refer clients to trusted specialists.

In-network with insurance – We understand that insurance is an important consideration for many individuals and families. We have intentionally chosen to remain a self-pay practice so that treatment can be individualized without outside restrictions, limitations, or interference. When available, we are happy to provide superbills for clients seeking out-of-network reimbursement.

Our Background

Circle City Counseling, LLC has been serving children, teens, adults, and families on the north side of Indianapolis since 2016.

Owner and therapist Lindsay Gayle, LMHC, began her career as an elementary school counselor before discovering a passion for providing deeper, ongoing therapeutic support. She transitioned into school-based therapy, where she spent five years helping children and families navigate life's challenges while building strong relationships within the community.

Driven by a desire to offer more individualized, relationship-centered care, Lindsay opened Circle City Counseling as a solo private practice. Over the years, the practice grew to include a team of clinicians, play therapy supervision, and collaborative wellness professionals. Today, Circle City Counseling has returned to its roots as a solo practice, allowing Lindsay to provide highly personalized care while continuing to offer play therapy supervision for clinicians working toward credentialing.

Lindsay's approach is grounded in connection, creativity, and authenticity. She incorporates play therapy, expressive therapies, and Brainspotting to help clients process difficult experiences, strengthen resilience, and move toward meaningful change.

Circle City Counseling is a self-pay practice and is not in network with insurance. This allows treatment decisions to be based on your unique needs rather than insurance requirements or limitations. If you have out-of-network benefits, we are happy to provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
