About Us
What we are…
Mental health therapists specializing in play therapy - While our work often centers on children, expressive therapies are effective, engaging, and meaningful for clients of all ages.
Proudly LGBTQ+ and Neurodivergent affirming - We honor each person’s identity, lived experience, and way of being in the world, and we strive to create a space where everyone feels seen, respected, and safe.
Committed to providing a nurturing, welcoming environment. Our space is designed with care—from a variety of snacks for every child who walks through our doors to hot tea and coffee available as well.
Listeners first - We consider it an honor to be trusted with people’s stories, and we approach each therapeutic relationship with humility, curiosity, and compassion.
Prioritize both the child’s experience and the vital role of parents and caregivers in the treatment process. Therapy is collaborative, relational, and grounded in supporting the whole family system.
What we are NOT…
Judgmental - We believe people are doing the best they can within the context of their lives, resources, and circumstances. Therapy is a space for understanding, not blame.
Passive - Our approach is intentional and responsive with child-led and therapist-led treatment (and everything in between), and we are clear, consistent, and supportive when boundaries are needed.
Able to provide formal diagnose - While we can offer diagnostic impressions and use informal screening tools, we refer out for formal psychological or medical diagnoses when needed.
In network with insurance - We fully understand the need to use insurance and respect that this is an important factor for many families. We have intentionally chosen to remain a self-pay practice so we can individualize treatment without outside interference, restrictions, or the risk of remittance.
Our Background
Circle City Counseling, LLC opened its doors to children and families on the northside of Indianapolis in 2016.
Owner and therapist Lindsay Gayle, LMHC, began her journey as an elementary school counselor, but it didn't take long for her to realize that she wanted to provide more direct and ongoing therapy. Her passion for helping individuals navigate life's challenges led her to transition into the role of a school-based therapist, through an agency for five years. While these roles were fulfilling in their own right, Lindsay felt a strong calling to offer more specialized care, especially as she embraced the responsibilities of raising her own children.
In response to this calling, Lindsay established her independent private practice, initially operating as a solo practitioner. Recently however, she has expanded into group practice supervising play therapy resident clinicians in training, offering play therapy supervision, and hosting bodywork practitioners.
Our practice does not accept insurance. However, we understand that some families may have out-of-network benefits, and we can provide a superbill that can assist in their reimbursement process. Our residents offer a competitive session rate at $110 per session. We often have interns who offer three free sessions and then $50 after that. Session costs vary based on clinician, licensing and experience.
Why Play Therapy?
It is important to remember that play is the language of children. It is also an easy thing to forget…
